How to Request an Additional ETC Card

Need a second ETC card for another vehicle? Here's exactly how to request and set it up.

Thank you for choosing JapanETCcard.com. We understand that you may need a second ETC card for your additional vehicle, and we're here to help every step of the way. Each ETC Card uses its own separate account, and eligible accounts can be administratively linked so your additional card qualifies for the reduced security deposit.

Tip: Existing customers may qualify for a referral credit when opening an approved additional account. Eligibility and credit issuance are governed by the current referral-program terms. View referral terms →

Step 1: Create a New Account

Every ETC Card requires its own separate account. Sign up for a new account using a different email address as the username. All other details, such as your name and address, can stay the same as your first account.

Step 2: Notify Us

Once the second account is created, email support@japanetccard.com with your first account username and your second account username (or the account ID numbers), and ask us to link the two accounts for seamless management.

Step 3: Submit Required Documents

To process your request, submit your Shaken Certificate (Vehicle Inspection Certificate) and your ETC Setup Document so we can confirm the ETC unit registration for your additional vehicle.

Step 4: Pay the Deposit

The deposit for your additional linked ETC Card is ¥20,000 (reduced from ¥40,000) and applies after we approve the account linkage. Once your documents are verified, we will email you instructions to log in and make the deposit. Each account keeps its own payment plan; linking only simplifies the deposit structure.

Step 5: Receive and Activate Your Second ETC Card

After the above steps, your second ETC Card is processed and mailed to you. You can use it as soon as it arrives, provided the setup matches your vehicle's registration information.

Linked Deposit Structure

Primary Linked Account

Each Additional Linked ETC Card

Linked accounts share a combined security-deposit arrangement, but each account keeps its own service plan, monthly fees, invoices, toll usage, and billing cycle. See the Pricing page for plain-language details.

Important Notes

  • Vehicle registration requirements: NEXCO policy requires the ETC unit to match your vehicle's license plate and registration details. Incorrect registration may cause toll gates to malfunction or not open.
  • Primary vehicle on file: You must have one primary vehicle registered in your account to remain eligible for our program.
  • Using your ETC card in multiple vehicles: While your ETC card can technically be used in other vehicles (e.g., taxis, rental cars), it is your responsibility to ensure proper registration for ongoing use.
